SET ENGINE RPM:
Run vehicle at 10001200 RPM.
Turn vehicle headlights and/or accessories ON to
load charging system.

MEASURE BATTERY VOLTAGE:
67
BATTERY VOLTAGE
Dial 67 into TEST SELECT switches and press
TEST.
Watch display and verify that battery voltage is
within 26.529.5 VDC.
NOTE
After completing repair, rerun
GO-Chain tests to verify that
Is battery voltage within limits?
the problem is fixed and no
other problems exist.

Is battery voltage low?
YES
NO
Battery voltage is high.
Refer to Electrical System Troubleshooting
Index (WP 0011 00) to troubleshoot
regulator and wiring. If regulator is built
into alternator, replace entire unit
Battery voltage is low.
Allow vehicle to run for 5 minutes at fast
idle and watch the display.
Is the battery voltage within limits?
YES
NO
Turn off headlights and accessories.
NG50
Turn vehicle engine off.
Proceed to Charging Circuit Test, NG 50.
Proceed to next page.
