OIL PAN REPLACEMENT (Contd)
WARNING
Accidental or intentional introduction of liquid contaminants
into the environment is a violation of state, federal, and military
regulations. Refer to Army POL (WP 0001 00) for information
concerning storage, use, and disposal of these liquids. Failure to
do so may result in damage to environment and health of
personnel.
NOTE
Use a drain pan to capture any draining oil. Dispose of fluids in
accordance with local policy and ordinances. Ensure all spills
are cleaned up.
REMOVAL
1.
Place hydraulic jack under driver's side front axle (4) and raise vehicle.
2.
Place jack stand under driver's side frame (1) and lower hydraulic jack.
3.
Remove thirty screws (6), lockwashers (7), oil pan (8), and gasket (5) from engine block (3) and
timing cover (2). Discard lockwashers (7) and gasket (5).
4.
Remove gasket remains from oil pan (8), engine block (3), and timing cover (2).
INSTALLATION
1.
Apply light coat of sealing compound to new gasket (5).
2.
Install new gasket (5) and oil pan (8) on engine block (3) and timing cover (2) with thirty new
lockwashers (7) and screws (6).
3.
Place hydraulic jack under driver's (left) side front axle (4) and raise vehicle.
4.
Remove jack stand from under frame (1).
5.
Lower vehicle and remove hydraulic jack.
6.
Fill engine with oil (WP 0020 00).
7.
Connect battery ground cable (WP 0126 00).
8.
Lower and secure hood (TM 9-2320-361-10).
9.
Release parking brake and remove wheel chocks (TM 9-2320-361-10).
