GENERAL
This work package provides the data and procedures for installing and removing the tire
chains on the M1078A1 series vehicles. Items covered include Rear Axle Tire Chain
Installation and Rear Axle Tire Chain Removal.
REAR AXLE TIRE CHAIN INSTALLATION
CAUTION
When installing tire chains on vehicle rear wheels, ensure CTIS is in
HIGHWAY Mode at all times and max speed is 10 mph (16 Kmh). Failure to
comply may result in damage to equipment.
Tire chains must not be used when driving on hard surfaces where there is
no wheel slippage. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment.
NOTE
Maximum speed limit for vehicles with tire chains on highways is 10 mph (16
km/h). Maximum speed limit for vehicles with tire chains off highway is 15
mph (24 km/h).
1.
Place tire chain (1) on ground with cross chain connecting links (2) facing down.
2.
Start engine (WP 0016 00).
