GENERAL
This work package provides the data and procedures for safely operating the M1078A1
series vehicles in a desert environment.
VEHICLE OPERATION
NOTE
FM 90-3 contains detailed instructions for living in desert environment.
1.
Principles of operation in extreme heat, extreme dust, and in sand or mud (WP 0040
00, 0041 00, 0043 00) apply to desert environment operation.
CAUTION
Vehicle must be properly prepared for temperature changes in desert
environment. Failure to comply may result in damage to vehicle.
2.
Temperatures can change as much as 70 F (40 C) between day and night.
3.
Due to expansion and contraction of fluids and air, care should be taken when filling
fuel tanks and fluid reservoirs to prevent overflow when temperatures change.
