must be performed before running any other STE/ICE-R test.

Check voltage drop across solenoid, and all cables/

connections in positive side of starter circuit. Use
procedure outlined below for each voltage drop check.

DO TEST PROBE CABLE OFFSET:
Short clip leads of test probe cable W2 together.
Dial 89 into TEST SELECT switches.
Press and hold TEST until CAL message appears
PROMPTING
on display.
MESSAGE
Release TEST.
Wait for offset value to appear on display.
Is offset value within limits of 6.8 to +6.8?
YES
NO
STE/ICE-R is bad. Replace.

MEASURE VOLTAGE DROP:
Connect clip leads of W2 across part to be measured.
Press TEST switch.
Press starter switch on vehicle.
The voltage drop across a connection should be less
than 0.1 volt and the drop across a cable should be
less than 0.2 volt.
Repair or replace defective part.
NOTE
After completing repair, rerun GO Chain tests (WP 0017 00)
to verify that problem is fixed and no other problems exist.
