THEORY OF OPERATION (Contd)
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OPERATION
Wires with circuit numbers are shown here for reference only and are not to be used for
troubleshooting.
BATTERY AND WIRING SYSTEM
Battery System Operation: The batteries are wired in series thereby utilizing two 12V batteries to
create a 24V system. The batteries are positive grounded directly to the chassis frame. The negative
battery cable is connected to the starter motor solenoid terminal, and voltage is supplied to the main
wiring harnesses from the solenoid terminal. The major components are as follows:
A BATTERY Two type 6TMF batteries store and supply electrical energy. They provide 24 volts DC
for the starting system and electrical accessories.
B SLAVE RECEPTACLE Provides a convenient place to plug in an external power source to assist
in cranking the engine. Used when vehicle batteries are not sufficiently charged.
C ACCESSORY POWER SWITCH Connects or disconnects the batteries from the vehicle electrical
components.
