18-78. HORIZONTAL LEVELING WORM DRIVE CHAIN REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
(TRUCK M764).
NOTE
This task is the same for the first and second
reduction chains.  This task is shown for the
second reduction chain.
1 1/8-inch open end wrench
TOOLS:
Adjustable wrench
5/32-inch sockethead screw key
15/16-inch wrench
(Allen wrench or equivalent)
Flat-tip screwdriver
3/4-inch wrench (2)
Pliers
2-inch open end wrench
7/16-inch wrench
SUPPLIES: None
PERSONNEL:
One
Truck parked, engine off, handbrake set.
EQUIPMENT  CONDITION:
a.  Removal.
FRAME 1
Using screwdriver, take off safety wire (1).  Using allen wrench, loosen
1.
setscrew (2).  Take off cover retaining collar (3) .
Using 7/16-inch wrenches, unscrew and take off capscrew (4), lockwasher
2.
(5), and nut (6).
Using 15/16-inch wrench , unscrew and take off capscrew with lockwasher (7),
3.
flat washer (8), and bushing ( 9). Take off cover (10).
